The Hostelrie sits at the heart of Goodrich village, between Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth. We're a five-minute walk from Goodrich Castle, ten minutes from Kerne Bridge, and a short drive from the canoe and kayak centres at Symonds Yat. If you're coming on Sunday, book ahead.
Food & Drink
People come from Ross, Monmouth and Symonds Yat for the Sunday roast. Aimee cooks British food properly. Real ales are kept well. You won't leave hungry.

Proudly local
Meat and vegetables come from Wye Organic, just up the road. Ales from Wye Valley Brewery. Wine from Wythall Estate.
When we serve food
Lunch and dinner Tuesday to Saturday, from noon, last food orders 8pm. On Sunday the roast is the main event, from noon, last orders 3:30pm; booking essential. On Monday the pub opens 5pm to 9pm, with a food truck from 6pm.

Godric's Café
Godric's Café is round the back, through the pub garden. Breakfast from 8am, Tuesday to Sunday.
Before it was Goodrich, this village was called Godric's Castle. We borrowed the name for the café.
Cooked breakfast from 8am, then brunch and lunch through the afternoon, Tuesday to Saturday. On Sunday it's breakfast, then coffee and pastries until noon. Ideal if you are heading for Kerne Bridge, Symonds Yat, or the Wye Valley Walk. Ring us if you are a crowd.

The heart of the village
Locals call us "The 'Til" and have done for generations. Step inside and you'll find low ceilings, flagstone floors, and the kind of atmosphere that only comes from nearly two centuries of village life. Three log fires crackle through winter, regulars prop up the bar, and dogs curl up in their favourite spots by the hearth.
The pub is managed by Corrin and her daughter Aimee. Some of you will know them from The Cross Keys, the other village pub, which they still run. They've been with us since we reopened under new ownership in April 2025. Corrin runs the front. Aimee runs the kitchen and will not let you leave hungry. Doggy bags are common. Room for pudding is not guaranteed.
Low ceilings, three fires, dogs by the hearth. Come as you are.
Around 1830, Sir Samuel Meyrick, the great armour collector, had the village inn rebuilt to a design drawn by his architect, Edward Blore. Blore went on to finish Buckingham Palace. His sketch of the inn is in the British Library, there's a copy hanging in the pub, and the gothic turrets still define the building today.
Stay the night
Our eight rooms open on 29 October. They're being refurbished now. The rooms are small, because the building is old, but they will be warm and comfortable.
Breakfast is included and served in Godric's Café. The castle is a five-minute walk. Kerne Bridge and the river are ten minutes. Symonds Yat is a short drive.

The canoe centres at Symonds Yat, the launch at Kerne Bridge, and the Wye Valley Walk all sit around us. We are the village pub in the middle.
Before you get on the river
Godric's Café, round the back through the pub garden, opens at 8am Tuesday to Sunday. Cooked breakfasts, coffee and cake for groups heading to Symonds Yat West or Kerne Bridge. Give us a ring if you're a crowd and we'll get you fed and out on time.
After a day on the trail
The Wye Valley Walk, Goodrich Castle and the lanes around the village all finish nicely here. Muddy boots, dogs and a pint by the fire are the usual order of things.

We're in Goodrich, about a 15-minute drive from the canoe and kayak centres at Symonds Yat West and a 10-minute walk from Kerne Bridge. Groups often come for breakfast before the river, or for Sunday roast after a weekend on the Wye.
