We’re looking for a live in Management Couple or an individual with Chef Experience to run the amazing pub, restaurant and inn in Goodrich, Herefordshire
The Hostelrie is a country pub in the picturesque village of Goodrich, Herefordshire, featuring a bar, restaurant, and eight guest rooms. Our vision is to create a welcoming and vibrant community hub that offers great quality, simple food at fair prices while supporting local producers and businesses.
We are looking for a passionate, hands-on Chef to take the lead in our kitchen. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious chef who wants full autonomy over the menu, ingredients, and kitchen operations. We want someone who understands good food, not fussy gastro pub trends—just simple, great-tasting dishes that keep people coming back.

What we’re looking for
Experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef: At least 2+ years in a professional kitchen
A love of simple, high-quality food: We want classic dishes done well, not overcomplicated plates
Strong leadership skills: Ability to recruit, train, and manage a small kitchen team
Great kitchen management: Confident with ordering, budgeting, stock control, and food safety compliance
Energy and passion: A hardworking, positive attitude is a must
A focus on local produce: Sourcing ingredients from local suppliers and reducing waste
Responsibilities
Kitchen & Menu Development
Design and execute a seasonal, locally inspired menu
Maintain consistency and quality in all dishes
Work closely with local producers and suppliers to source fresh ingredients
Kitchen Management & Cost Control
Manage kitchen operations efficiently, ensuring smooth service
Control costs, portion sizes, and reduce food waste
Ensure strict compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
Team Leadership & Culture
Recruit, train, and develop a small, passionate kitchen team
Create a positive, supportive working environment
Lead by example, maintaining a high standard of work ethic and enthusiasm
